Embodying a universal approach to spiritual growth, the path of Sufism respects all religions, faiths and traditions.
The Invocation above articulates the goals and values of this path. Teachings are grounded in a rich historical tradition and lineage which continues today with a focus on responding to the needs of our time.
The Sufi Order International evolved from an international spiritual tradition which originated in the East and was brought to the West by Hazrat Inayat Khan, the founder of the SOI. He was given the task by his Sufi teacher to “unite East and West in the harmony of your music”.
The FRSOI is open to all seekers wishing to explore the purpose of life,
regardless of religion, including those with no specific affiliation. One may be Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Nature lover or merely a seeker and still resonate deeply with the practical teachings of Sufism. Sufism welcomes members of all races, nations and beliefs. There are many paths to Truth.

He will talk about Murshid and Pir.Sharif Graham is a scholar and former professor of Literature and Comparative Religion at University of Arizona and Pima College. For twelve years he has authenticated and edited the lectures of Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan, and has regularly given seminars on Inayat Khan’s teachings.He has guided group and individual retreats for many years, using his vast store of knowledge of the Sufi tradition, together with his sense of humor to quicken our inner life.Sharif was raised in Arizona, educated at Yale, taught comparative religion for 30 years, and was initiated by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan in 1970. He started working on the Complete Works of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan in 1982.
